Garmin Street Pilot 2820 motorcycle GPS and accessories
Garmin street pilot 2820. This is an oldie but a goodie. I used a Street Pilot on my motorcycles until recently when my upgraded GPS came with a motorcycle attached to it. I could write a book on what I don’t like about the new Boom system from HD, but you are here looking at my Garmin, so I’ll skip that part. The best info comes from the Garmin site, I recommend you go there to get all the details. This unit is not specifically designed for a motorcycle, but it is waterproof, which has made it very popular with motorcycle owners. It is not new and is not even supported by Garmin any longer. The database is several years old and is no longer updateable by Garmin. It is eligible for a Garmin trade in however. A call to Garmin should get you the same offer that they made me on a new GPS. That discount may be about what you pay for this unit. I declined the offer and instead bought a new HD. This Street Pilot has Bluetooth, an MP3 player and can be subscribed to XM radio and traffic. I will include my MP3 files for you. You could blue tooth a helmet headset and get all those things pumped right into your skull. Yeah, ask me if my new HD can do that; the answer is an angry NO. Included is: the bean bag adapter and cigarette lighter power cord w/speaker for car use, the M/C wiring harness, RAM cradle and 110v power cord. This unit has no battery and some may find that annoying, but that is the way it was built. As you can see from the Photo, the unit does work and will get you where you want to go. It may not know where the nearest McDonalds is located though. It is my second Street Pilot and I used until recently this year. Knowing exactly what it can and can not do; It was worth about a hundred dollars to me when I bought it and I think it is still worth that. I could just toss it in my unused parts box, but I would like to see another biker get some use out of it.
